History of the Iowa Courthouse: The Pottawattamie County Courthouse was built in Council Bluff, Iowa in 1885. It fell into a state of disrepair and in 1970, Dudley Gray, California lawyer and real estate developer, dismantled the courthouse and re-erected it in Torrance, California. The project was completed in 1980 and Gray's law offices were located on the fourth floor. The building has continued to maintain a tum-of-the-century courthouse appearance.
